SIBOL clinched the top spot of Group A in League of Legends PC in the 31st Southeast Asian Games on Thursday.

Two games were not enough for the Philippines and Singapore as they faced for the third time on an opening day.

As the dust settled, it was the Philippines who went on top during the tiebreaker match, beating Singapore with a 17-14 victory.

The country’s League of Legends PC team started their campaign with an impressive win against Thailand via a 17-9 win before receiving a heartbreaking loss versus Singapore with a 31-12 defeat.

The Philippines then clinched the playoff spot as they eliminated Thailand in their third game, 28-20.

Then, they bounced back against Singapore in their supposed final match of the day. It was a tie 25-25 scoreline but SIBOL was hailed victorious as they were the ones who destroyed the enemy Nexus first.

That win turned out to be pivotal as it forced a rubber match between the two teams for the top spot.

The Philippine national LOL team is bannered by Jan Raphael “RVL8” Retance, Jan Edward “Creshowo” Hortizuela, David Emmanuel “yjyyyyyyyyyy” Tapang, Hezro Elijah “Parzival” Canlas, and Andre Dominique “Calumnia” Soriano.

On the battle royale side, two of the Philippine teams are dominating the PUBG Mobile team mode.

After day 1 match 5 of the final stage, SIBOL Team 1 — consisting of KHI Esports’ Monoboy1, Rankidl, Demigod, and H2R — lead the tournament with a total point of 75, while SIBOL Team 2 — composed of Zap Battlegroundz’s NewBie, Range, Shazaaam, and Rymonl– is at the no. 3 spot with 60 total points.

SIBOL’s PUBG squads are looking to add to the country’s medal tally tomorrow on the tournament’s final day.

Meanwhile, the Philippines national Arena of Valor team had a disappointing start to their SEA Games campaign after a 0-3 start in the group stage.

SIBOL suffered a back-to-back loss against Laos with a 0-1 in their first match and 0-2 later on.

They ended their opening day campaign with another 0-2 loss against Malaysia.

The AOV team consists of Dau, Ode, Crustcore, SofiaNicole, and Tora.
