CDL Champs 2022 Day 2: Subliners risk elimination, OpTic Texas vs LA Thieves
CDL Championship Weekend has kicked off and the matches have already been insane. Here's all the info you need to keep up.

CDL Championships Weekend 2022 is underway, and as the last event of the Vanguard season, this is the final chance for teams to cement their place at the top of the game.

In a year with four different Major tournament winners, there are no clear favorites this weekend. It is still anybody’s title at this point in the tournament, but some have started off stronger than others despite the incredibly close round 1 matchups.

Like every other CDL tournament broadcast, the end of the year event is being streamed live on the Call of Duty League YouTube channel. Day One kicked off on August 4 and Championship Sunday will conclude on August 7.

The 2022 Call of Duty Championship weekend started with a bang. All four opening matchups went the distance, two of which ended with round 11 showdowns.
A server outage delayed the second match between the Boston Breach and the Los Angeles Thieves for more than an hour but once the action got underway, it proved to be worth the wait.
LA Thieves and Boston battled through five extremely close maps, with the hometown squad ultimately closing it out in game five, round 11.
Following suit with another nail-biting series, OpTic clutched up when it mattered, taking down Toronto Ultra in a second game five, round 11 for the day.
Rounding it all out, FaZe pulled off the reverse sweep against New York, dominating the final S&D 6-2.
CDL Championships 2022 prize pool
When the eight squads who qualified gather at the Galen Center they’ll be battling it out for their share of $2,550,000 and a place in the franchise record books.
This is how the money breaks down according to placing:

That means each squad has secured $30,000 just for making it to the event, but only one will be leaving with the $1.2 million top spot and a championship trophy to boot.
All teams competing at CDL Championships 2022
Major 4 is now in the rearview and the stage has been set for Champs. It was a close race to the finish which saw multiple teams still vying to lock in their spot during the final Major weekend of the year.
While powerhouses like Atlanta FaZe and OpTic Texas had already punched their ticket, teams like Toronto Ultra, LA Thieves, and New York Subliners were still on the bubble.
The latter two teams ended up meeting in Grand Finals and thus securing their spot, but it wasn’t an easy road to get there.
