Animation studio MAPPA released a new image to tease the upcoming second half of Attack on Titan's fourth and final season.
MAPPA released the new teaser as part of the company's 10th anniversary event. The second half of Attack on Titan's final season is scheduled to be released sometime in early 2022. The first half of the season was released in December 2020 and was produced by MAPPA, while the previous three seasons of the anime series and its associated compilation movies were produced by Wit Studio, which is also known for its work on Kabeneri of the Iron Fortress and Vivy: Fluorite Eyes' Song. Both halves of the final season are directed by Jun Shishido, who also directed Hajime No Ippo Rising, as well as episodes of Chihayafuru, Yuri On Ice, and FLCL Alternative.
The Attack on Titan manga recently published its final chapter in Japan in April, ending the story that began in 2009. Created by Hajime Isayama, the series focuses on Eren Jaeger, a young man who dedicates his life to revenge after the Titans, a race of cannibalistic giants, breach the massive wall that protects the last human settlements and kill his family. The anime adaptation began in 2013, and since then the series has also been adapted into multiple live-action movies, a series of video games, and has even had a cross-over comic with The Avengers.
The original season of the anime is streaming on Netflix, while the entirety of the first three seasons, as well as the first half of Season 4, are all available for streaming on Hulu and Crunchyroll.
